Hekima College was founded in 1984 as a school of theology by the Major Superiors of the Society of Jesus in Africa and Madagascar. Its central aim and purpose was to provide a first theological formation at University level for Jesuit students preparing for priesthood. Hekima College has been recognised as a Campus College of The Catholic University of Eastern Africa in the University Charter

Welcome to Hekima College

The core mission of Hekima College is to educate, train and form students as authentic ministers of the gospel and passionate peace-builders.Over the last three decades and counting, Hekima University College has successfully fulfilled this mandate with commitment, dedication and excellence. During this period the pool of alumni/ae of Hekima University College has expanded tremendously. Several of our past students occupy important positions of leadership, ministry and service in church and society.

Looking ahead, the coming years are promising and exciting for Hekima University College. We have plans to transition to a chartered university under the new laws governing higher education in Kenya. Also, we plan to introduce graduate programmes in theology and post-graduate programmes in peace studies. More important, we are working hard to establish a scholarship fund to promote gender diversity in theological education, which will enable lay and religious women to study theology on a regular basis at Hekima University College. Together, these plans will strengthen our positon as the premier Jesuit institution of higher education in Eastern Africa and enhance our capacity as leader in research and scholarship both in theology and peace studies.

Welcome to Hekima University College!
