Duration of Programme

The certificate course will extend over a period of one academic semester, or six months consisting of 15 teaching weeks and one examination week.

Students of Hekima College enrolled for other programmes wishing to take the certificate course may arrange with the Dean to spread their study over a longer period.

Structure of the Programme

Candidates will be offered a set of core and elective courses during the semester.

i)  Core units are compulsory for all candidates registered for the Certificate in Peace Studies and International Relations Programme and must be examined and passed for the award of the Certificate.

ii) Elective units are those preferred by students depending on their needs and area of interest. Both core and elective courses registered must be passed.

iii) Each candidate for certificate must take a total of 22 credits in course work, or a maximum of six courses: 4 required core courses, 2 electives and 6 credit for the long essay. Depending on individual need, and if the timetable allows, students may attend additional units without offering themselves for the final examination.
